Die Republik Côte d'Ivoire, vormals auf Deutsch Elfenbeinküste, ist ein Mitgliedsstaat der Afrikanischen Union. Das Land erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von 322.462 km2 und grenzt im Norden an Mali und Burkina Faso, im Westen an Liberia und Guinea, im Osten an Ghana und im Süden an den Atlantischen Ozean. Die Einwohnerzahl wird Stand 2014 auf 25.232.905 geschätzt. Politische und administrative Hauptstadt von Côte d'Ivoire ist Yamoussoukro, wobei Abidjan weiterhin die wichtigste Wirtschaftsmetropole ist. Die Amtssprache ist Französisch und die Währung des Landes der CFA-Franc. Das Land ist Mitglied der Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft westafrikanischer Staaten (ECOWAS).

The Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, formerly also referred to as the Ivory Coast, is a member of the African Union. With a surface area of 322,462 km2, it adjoins Mali and Burkina Faso to the north, Liberia and Guinea to the west, Ghana to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The population was estimated at 25,232,905 in 2014. Côte d'Ivoire's political and administrative capital is Yamoussoukro (Abidjan remains the economic capital), its official language is French and its currency is the CFA franc. The country is a member of ECOWAS.
